Poster Design that never got used..

I was reminded of my blog today and my promise to update it, so here’s something for a school CIP event I did that never got used.

The beneficiary was Operation Smile, a non-profit organization that helps children with cleft lip disorders. The CIP event was a concert held in our school auditorium, and my task was to design publicity materials for the event.

This was my first try on a logo with the theme “Metamorphosis” in mind. It was my SECOND pen tool drawing and it took a whole morning to figure out how to draw the basic shapes.

The logo was then used for the concert tickets.

This was my first try at the poster design. I didn’t like how it turned out. 😦 So I redid the design completely and here is the result:

I am super proud of this design! Sadly, the committee did not use any of my poster designs to lower costs. 😦

Remember the post on “Blue Heaven”, a simple clouds and sky photograph? This became the design for the NYGH PSL 2008 Handbook! *beams* Unfortunately the published colour is much, much inferior to the original design. 😉

I did this banner with the theme “Spring” in mind. Oops, I just realised the 采 is hidden behind NY. I don’t really like the font of the “NY” though, and it reminds me of “New York”. (:

No COPYING!! *evil stare at Leny* >:/

Anyway, I’m really proud of this design! *beams* Because it’s my very first artwork using the enigmatic Pen Tool successfully! (: I’m finally starting to get the hang of it!

I played around with Photoshop again, focusing on Fantasy. (my theme according to Artist Statement) I tried a more semi-realistic approach with digital painting as opposed to last post’s cell-shading style. I’m quite proud of the dead tree which I made a custom brush from a photo reference! I hope to create an even more realistic look in my next digital painting.

Here is a slideshow of the art process! (:

I was playing around with Illustrator, and drew a lineart of a Pheonix. I cell-shaded it in Photoshop and here it is! I’m not very good at digital art, but I enjoy using this medium as there are endless possibilities.
